Jay Trefethen is a self taught artist living in Bradford, Vermont. He creates original drawings, paintings and pyrography art. A lifelong enthusiast of sketching and drawing, he started sketching as a child, and just never stopped. He never saw a reason to stop. He has been in juried gallery shows, illustrated two children’s books, helped illustrate a graphic novel, created murals, and done countless portrait commissions. On top of all that, he maintains a ‘day job’ building furniture at the famous Pompanoosuc Mills in East Thetford, Vermont. He also helps out as caregiver to his disabled spouse, Meredith. Jeez, when does this guy sleep?
Where to see Jay’s Art:
Pompanoosuc Mills Showroom, East Thetford, Vermont. You can see a cherry coffee table Jay built from scratch and illustrated with a wildlife scene, titled The Guardian, in the showroom. Last I checked, it was on the second floor. You can purchase this piece, or order your own custom furniture with original pyrography art by Jay.
Chapman’s Country Store, Fairlee, Vermont. Jay has several of his smaller woodburning pieces at Chapman’s. These make great gifts, so please feel free to buy as many as you want. Don’t worry, he’ll make more.
Besides this blog, here are a few sites that Jay uses to promote his artwork:
What We’re looking for now:
Right now, Jay still need to find a permanent brick and mortar gallery for his larger works, oil and acrylic paintings and his larger pyrography pieces. If interested, please e-mail Jay at firstname.lastname@example.org. Until then, he will continue displaying his larger works at various juried art shows, and the occasional science fiction convention.
You can reach Jay at email@example.com. Please feel free to reach out to him with any questions or concerns you may have. Thanks.
